FAQ
What does a GAIC result mean?
For photos and sampled video frames, GAIC checks AI-style visual patterns, file history, and supported signed Content Credentials. For long English text, it checks writing patterns that can also appear in human writing. New generators, screenshots, edits, and compression can fool any detector. Use the result as a reason to investigate the original source—not as a final verdict.
Can GAIC check videos and my screen?
Yes. For video, GAIC checks supported creation history and samples up to 8 still frames across the full timeline. It does not analyze audio or full motion. A screen check watches the screen or window you choose for about four seconds, checks up to 8 frames, then stops sharing without saving a recording. On iPhone, iPad, and in the mobile apps, GAIC asks you to take a screenshot instead. These checks stay on-device.
Do my images leave my device?
Not by default. Standard text, photo, video-frame, and screen checks run on your device. Your local result appears first. On the web, an active Pro subscriber can separately choose an optional cloud second signal when it is available; only that approved image, up to 3 MiB, is held in an AES-GCM-encrypted temporary queue for up to 15 minutes and sent to the configured inference provider. QStash receives only an opaque job ID and limited job details—not the image or decryption key. GAIC deletes the encrypted image promptly after completion or failure, and account deletion immediately removes the remaining GAIC-controlled job records. Native app scans stay on-device. What is verified creation history?
Some files include signed Content Credentials (C2PA) that record how the media was created or changed. GAIC checks supported embedded credentials on your device, including the signature, connection to the file, and signer trust. A valid record is useful history, but it does not prove that the content is true. A missing record does not mean the file is fake.
How do I cancel GAIC Pro?
Web GAIC Pro subscriptions are billed by Stripe. While Pro is active, choose Manage Pro at the top of this page to open Stripe's secure portal and update or cancel it. Your Stripe receipt and support remain available as fallbacks. Native GAIC Pro subscriptions are managed in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
